Barcelona guide

The best specialty coffee in Barcelona

A curated guide to the cafés and roasters shaping Barcelona's specialty coffee scene — written by the team behind Ronda Coffee.

Last updated: June 2026

Barcelona has quietly become one of Europe's most exciting cities for specialty coffee. In the last decade a generation of roasters — Nomad, Slowmov, Three Marks, Hidden, Right Side, Satan's, Morrow, Roast Club — turned the city from a cortado-only town into a destination for filter geeks and espresso obsessives alike.

This guide is the short version. We've left out the chains and the tourist traps and focused on the cafés and roasters we actually visit. If you only have a weekend in Barcelona, work through the first six. If you live here, treat it as a map.

By neighbourhood

Most of Barcelona's specialty scene clusters in a handful of barris: Gràcia, Sant Antoni, El Born, and the Gòtic. A morning walk from Gràcia down to Sant Antoni will take you past more world-class cafés than most European capitals can offer.

  1. 01

    Nomad Coffee (Passatge Sert)

El Born · Roaster + café

The roaster that put Barcelona on the specialty map. A tiny brew bar tucked into a passatge, with rotating single origins on espresso and filter. Start here.

  2. 02

    Slowmov

    Gràcia · Roaster + café

Founded by Carmen and François, Slowmov roasts with restraint and runs one of the warmest cafés in Gràcia. Try the V60 of the week.

  3. 03

    Three Marks Coffee

    Eixample · Roaster + café

Competition-grade espresso, a clean industrial space, and a team that will geek out about extraction with you. A go-to for serious espresso drinkers.

  4. 04

    Hidden Coffee Roasters

Sant Antoni · Roaster + café

Bright, fruit-forward roasts and a flagship café near Sant Antoni market. Excellent batch brew and a small but considered pastry menu.

  5. 05

    Right Side Coffee

El Raval · Roaster + café

A tiny, no-nonsense bar from Raül Pérez focused on getting espresso right. Standing room only — and that's the point.

  6. 06

    Satan's Coffee Corner

    Gòtic · Roaster + café

Marcos Bartolomé's flagship inside Hotel Casa Bonay. Equal parts brunch destination and serious coffee bar — book a table for weekends.

  7. 07

    Morrow Coffee

Sant Antoni · Roaster + café

Compact roastery and café with seasonal Africans you'll want to take home. Friendly baristas, generous tasting notes.

  8. 08

    Roast Club Café

    Eixample · Roaster + café

Bright corner café from Roast Club with all-day brunch and a rotating lineup of their own roasts. Solid for a working morning.

  9. 09

    SYRA Coffee

    Multiple · Café

A reliable mini-chain across the city — pop in for a flat white when you're between meetings in Gràcia, Born, or Poblenou.

  10. 10

    Cafés El Magnífico

    El Born · Café

An institution since 1980 — half neighbourhood roaster, half specialty café. Buy beans here and you'll be in good company.

  11. 11

    Onna Coffee

    Gràcia · Café

Costa Rican-owned, with direct relationships to producers and a flagship in Gràcia that doubles as a training lab.

  12. 12

    Espai Joliu

    Poblenou · Café

Plants, ceramics and good coffee in equal measure. The Poblenou stop on any specialty crawl.
